Museums, galleries and art centres open during Kortrijk Art Weekend
The second edition of Kortrijk Art Weekend will take place in October, offering a diverse art experience in the city. A total of 28 organisations, including museums, galleries and art centres, will open to the public, showcasing both emerging talents and established artists like Rinus Van de Velde, Joseph Beuys and Johan Tahon.
The two-day event on 26 and 27 October aims to introduce Kortrijk’s residents and visitors to contemporary art in all its forms. Participants include not only museums and galleries but also artist-in-residencies, project spaces and pop-up exhibitions.
"Kortrijk Art Weekend is a true cultural bazooka," said Axel Ronse, the city’s councillor responsible for culture. "I am extremely happy that I have been able to unite all associations that bring visual arts under the same flag. The weekend is a powerful momentum that draws many people to unique places in our city."
Throughout the weekend, temporary exhibitions, lectures, performances and guided tours will complement the regular offerings of the participating venues. Visitors can plan their trip using the Kortrijk Art Weekend website, which provides a digital map with GPS tracking. A printed version of the map is available at participating locations.
A walking tour will guide visitors through the city centre, featuring 12 sculptures, fountains, light installations and statues. The walking map is available for free from the tourist office and the route will remain accessible after the art weekend concludes.
