Musea Brugge seeks new colleague: a black cat

Musea Brugge has posted a remarkable vacancy: a friendly black cat. The umbrella organisation of Bruges' museums is looking for a mascot that isn't shy, likes to be petted and can handle a litter tray. It must also agree to a new name: Aristide the Fifth.
A jet-black cat has wandered the Volkskundemuseum's Zwarte Kat cafe for years, but the museum has recently been without a mascot. "I found this extremely regrettable," deputy councillor for Culture Nico Blontrock (CD&V) told Het Nieuwsblad. "That's why I urged Musea Brugge to get a new Aristide, their fifth. So now we're looking for a black cat that will give our museum cafe its typical look."
"Basic knowledge of cute meows and loud purrs is a plus"
The requirements for Aristide the Fifth are listed in the job advertisement: "You are not afraid of people and like to be petted. You have experience in hanging out, doing nothing and giving cuddles. Basic knowledge of cute meows and loud purrs is a plus."
Taking naps in the sun and staring out of the window are also a bonus.
Musea Brugge plans to pay the new employee in kind, with Aristide getting free accommodation in the museum. "Lunch vouchers can also be exchanged for cat food," says Blontrock. "The museum staff are already enthusiastic."
