At the end of 2021, the Flemish cultural sector had 46,184 jobs and the sports sector had 16,575, figures from Statistics Flanders showed on Wednesday.
The number of jobs in the cultural sector remained more or less stable between 2015 and 2019, slightly above 47,000. Due to the pandemic, there was a dip in 2020, but the number grew steadily again in 2021. The largest share of cultural employment was in the education sector, followed by libraries, archives and museums.
