More medals than ever for Flemish Olympic and Paralympic top sport

The Flemish Olympic top sport index as well as the Paralympic top sport index have reached a record last year. That's according to the latest figures published on Thursday by Statistiek Vlaanderen (Flanders Statistics).

Since 2012, there has been a distinct increase in the Flemish top sport index. This increase can be measured by the number of medals and top 8 places obtained at the Olympic Games, European and World Championships in Olympic disciplines.

The Paralympic and bi-communal (Flemish and French community) Indexes are calculated in the exact same way as the Flemish Olympic top sport index. The bi-communal index has also known a significant increased since 2015. The index of the French community has increased on a slower pace in the last few years.
