Memorial Van Damme: Belgium's Cynthia Bolingo sprints to 400m victory

Belgium's Cynthia Bolingo won the 400m at the Memorial Van Damme on Friday. The national record holder finished in 50.09 at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. 

Lieke Klaver of the Netherlands was second and Shamier Little of the US ​ completed the podium. Bolingo finished fifth in the 400m at the recent World Championships in Budapest. She lowered the Belgian record to 49.96 in the semi-finals.

Another 400m race, not part of the main programme, was scheduled for earlier in the evening. Amandine Brossier of France won in 51.40, ahead of Belgium's Imke Vervaet, who was nine-hundredths of a second above her personal record of 52.00.
