Lotus Bakeries plans to expand production to Asia

After Belgium and the United States, Belgian biscuit manufacturer is now preparing to expand their production to Asia. Lotus Bakeries is planning to build a new factory in Thailand that is expected to be operational from 2026, the company announced on Wednesday.
According to the biscuit manufacturer, the Asia-Pacific region has become increasingly important to Lotus Biscoff in recent years. The company says there is still great growth potential for their Biscoff brand, the international name used to market traditional Belgian 'speculoos' biscuits or caramelized biscuits.
By building a production facility on this continent, the manufacturer wants to "respond more quickly to regional opportunities and reduce both transport costs and its carbon footprint".
Thailand was chosen because of the country's central location in the region, the presence of a strong food industry and the labour regulations and costs, among other reasons, the statement reads.
The project in the province of Chonburi will be definitively launched after the acquisition of the industrial land is completed. According to the current timing, the first line will be operational in 2026, says Lotus Bakeries.
Since August 2019, Biscoff products have also been rolling off the conveyor belt in the US state of North Carolina.
