Live Nation becomes new owner of Pukkelpop

Belgian festival Pukkelpop has been taken over by entertainment giant Live Nation, the festival announced on Wednesday.

Founder and current CEO Chokri Mahassine will continue to lead the new Pukkelpop company. Co-founders Marie Peremans, Patrick Breugelmans and Christiane Sluyter will also remain involved, along with the entire Pukkelpop team. The festival’s headquarters will stay in Leopoldsburg (Limburg).

“Day-to-day operations will hardly change”, said Pukkelpop spokesperson Frederik Luyten. “Thanks to this partnership with Live Nation, the festival’s future is secured for the next generation of Pukkelpoppers.”

The administrative process is expected to be completed within a few weeks.

Live Nation already organises several major Belgian festivals, including Graspop, Rock Werchter and Werchter Boutique.
