European project to reduce legal and administrative barriers at French-Belgian border

A new European cooperation project aims to simplify life for those who live, work, study or do business at the French-Belgian border. The LIM-EX programmeis funded by the European Union's Interreg programme France-Wallonia-Flanders.
According to the project partners, there are till many legal and administrative obstacles at the French-Belgian border. “These obstacles hinder the development of the border region and complicate cross-border cooperation, to the detriment of citizens, entrepreneurs, institutions and local actors,” they stated.
LIM-EX aims to identify, prioritise and address the various obstacles. The project will pool the expertise of the regions involved and seek practical solutions. Flanders, Wallonia and the French regions of Hauts-de-France and Grand Est are working together with the aim of making the border region a place where mobility, services and cooperation run more smoothly and efficiently.
The project was presented on Monday in Bruges in the presence of West Flanders governor Carl Decaluwé and Bertrand Gaume, prefect of the Hauts-de-France region. Flemish minister president Matthias Diependaele addressed those present via a video message.
