LIM-EX project to reduce legal and administrative barriers at French-Belgian border

The new European cooperation project LIM-EX was launched on Monday in Bruges. The project aims to simplify life for those who live, work, study or do business at the French-Belgian border. The programme is funded by the European Union's Interreg programme France-Wallonia-Flanders.
According to the project partners, there are still many legal and administrative obstacles at the French-Belgian border. “These obstacles hinder the development of the border region and complicate cross-border cooperation, to the detriment of citizens, entrepreneurs, institutions and local actors,” they stated.
The LIM-EX project aims to identify, prioritise and address the various obstacles. The project will pool the expertise of the various regions involved and seek concrete solutions. To this end, Flanders, Wallonia and the French regions of Hauts-de-France and Grand Est are working together. The aim is to make the border region a place where mobility, services and cooperation run more smoothly and efficiently.
The project was presented on Monday in Bruges in the presence of West Flanders governor Carl Decaluwé and Bertrand Gaume, prefect of the Hauts-de-France region. Flemish minister-president Matthias Diependaele addressed those present via a video message.
