Largest Zara shop in the world to open in Antwerp

Spanish fashion group Inditex, which owns the Zara chain, will open the world's largest Zara shop in Antwerp. That shop will be set up in the new Meir Corner building, on a corner of Antwerp's Meir shopping street.
The Meir Corner building is currently under construction on the site of the former Proximus building. In a large part of it, the Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts will set up a new campus. The commercial space of the building has now been leased to Zara. The new shop will have a size of 14,500 square metres and have three floors.
“This is good news for the Meir and Antwerp as a fashion city”
“Zara wants to set up large shops in all major cities around the world,” said Nicolas Beausillon, CEO of real estate company Tans Urban Landmarks, to VRT NWS. “In these, they want to offer a unique shopping experience as a counterweight to online shopping.”
Zara has already for a long time one of the larger shops on the Meir shopping street. “When Zara saw the new project, it decided to move its shop there,” Beausillon said. “This is also good news for the Meir and Antwerp as a fashion city.”
The building will be completed in the second half of 2026. A few months later, Zara hopes to open its new shop.
