Kidnapped Dutch man turns up in Belgium

A Dutch man who had been missing for a week and a half was found in Belgium on Wednesday morning. Dutch police said he had managed to escape from his abductors.

Lakshan N, 27, from The Hague, had been missing since Sunday 26 November. Police suspected from the start that he was being held against his will.

It is not yet known where the man, who is said to be in good health, was being held. Dutch police and Belgian authorities are continuing to investigate the abduction, but there have been no arrests so far.

According to newspaper Het Parool, Lakshan N was allegedly involved with criminals over a large shipment of stolen cocaine.
