Kevin De Bruyne signs two-year contract with Italian champions Napoli

Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne has officially signed a two-year deal with Serie A champions Napoli, with the option of extending it by a further year. He will earn around six million euros a year. This high-profile move follows his departure from Manchester City.
De Bruyne reunites in Naples with compatriot Romelu Lukaku, Belgium’s all-time leading goalscorer. The pair previously played together at Chelsea early in their careers. After ten seasons with Manchester City, where he became one of the Premier League’s most prolific playmakers, De Bruyne now embarks on a new chapter in Italy.
The midfielder landed in Rome on Thursday morning aboard a private jet from Brussels. Dozens of fans were waiting to greet him at Fiumicino Airport. He was then escorted to Villa Stuart, a private clinic in northern Rome, for his medical examination.
“The atmosphere is electric, the excitement palpable. It almost feels like we’re in Naples,” La Gazzetta dello Sport reported, drawing comparisons to Romelu Lukaku’s arrival last season. “But this time, the Azzurri fans’ passion seems even more intense.”
There will be no official unveiling this week. According to his father Herwig, De Bruyne will not take part in a press presentation just yet, as he is scheduled to go on holiday first.
