KBC’s mobile banking app named best in the world
Belgian bank KBC’s mobile app has been named the best in the world by consulting firm Sia Partners. The app, which features a digital assistant called Kate, took first place in a review of 140 banking apps from 22 countries. The consultancy evaluated the apps on more than 95 criteria.
Another Belgian bank, Belfius, ranked eighth in the survey. France’s Boursobank, making its debut in the rankings, claimed second, while Revolut Metal came in third. The evaluation considered factors such as the app’s functionality, user experience and customer ratings.
Sia Partners highlighted the increasing competition in mobile banking. Even minor improvements in app functionality and user experience can lead to shifts in rankings, it said. The firm also noted a growing gap between digital leaders and other banks.
“Our Digital First strategy, the backbone of our policy from the beginning, has once again proven its value and demonstrates the innovative strength we can build on as a group,” said KBC CEO Johan Thijs.
KBC’s app currently has 2.3 million users.
