Katoen Natie expands in France with major acquisition

Belgian logistics giant Katoen Natie, led by entrepreneur Fernand Huts, has made a significant move by acquiring an 80 per cent stake in its French counterpart Bils-Deroo Solutions.
The Antwerp-based group, active in both logistics and waste management through its subsidiary Indaver, frequently expands through new ventures and acquisitions. Only last month, it bought its transport partner in Ireland.
Bils-Deroo, a century-old family business based in Hauts-de-France, employs nearly 1,500 people and generates an annual turnover of around 150 million euros. The Bils family will retain a 20 per cent share.
The company operates 21 sites across the region, offering a full range of logistics services including storage, packaging, e-commerce and on-site logistics for clients. It also runs a major transport network across France and Europe, combining a fleet of over 220 tractors and 500 trailers with independent drivers.
Chair Jimmy Bils and his management team will remain in charge. Katoen Natie aims to support Bils-Deroo in expanding its services, improving digital tools and innovation, and boosting e-commerce activities.
Through the deal, Katoen Natie gains a stronger foothold in northern France, while Bils-Deroo gains access to an international network and new growth opportunities.
