Ingmar De Vos secures seat on IOC Executive Board

On Wednesday, Ingmar De Vos was elected to the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He was elected for a four-year term during the 145th Session of the IOC, held in the run-up to the 2026 Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, and will assume the role following the conclusion of the event.
De Vos began his career in 1980 at the Belgian Equestrian Federation, where he became secretary general in 1997. He has led the FEI since 2014 - where his mandate ends this year - and joined the IOC as a member in 2017. In April 2024, the 62-year-old from Antwerp was elected as president of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).
"I am deeply humbled by the result and would like to express my sincere gratitude to my fellow IOC Members," De Vos said in an FEI press release. "During my mandate, I am committed to contributing to the future success of the Olympic Games, the IOC and the Olympic Family. (...) Together, we must continue to enhance the popularity, appeal, and long-term sustainability of the Olympic Games."
Belgian influence
Several Belgians have held high-level positions within the IOC over the past few decades. Jacques Rogge served as its eight president from 2001 to 2013. Christophe De Kepper is the committee's current director-general, while Pierre-Olivier Beckers is one of its vice-presidents, as well as chair of the Coordination Commission for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps.
"We are proud that he follows in the footsteps of remarkable Belgians in the Olympic Movement, thereby contributing to our legacy and national Olympic heritage," said Jean-Michel Saive, president of the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC).
