Gustaph to represent Belgium at Liverpool Eurovision Song Contest

Gustaph will represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. The 42-year-old Stef Caers convinced the professional jury and the public on Saturday evening with his song 'Because of You'.
There were seven candidates in the running. They performed their song at Palace 12 in Brussels with the complete act, lighting and show. A professional jury, including Alexander Rybak and Nikkie De Jager, and the audience then had to decide who would go to Liverpool for Belgium. Half of the points came from the jury and the other half from the audience.
Gustaphe received 121 points from the jury and 157 points from the audience. This kept him one point above The Starlings, the musician couple Tom Dice and Kato Callebaut, who came second.
The Eurovision Song Contest is in its 67th edition. The semi-finals occur on May 9 and 11, and the final on May 13. Usually, the event would take place in Ukraine, the previous edition's winner, but because of the war, another host country had to be sought.
