Green electricity can be sold to neighbours in apartment buildings

People who own solar panels in an apartment building in Flanders will now be able to “sell” the electricity they generate to other residents, Flemish energy regulator VREG announced on Thursday.

Until now, it has only been possible to share the electricity from solar panels on the same site for free.

In practical terms, the owner or building association of a residential or mixed-use building will have the possibility to sell the electricity produced by their solar panels to other customers in the building.
