Ghent tech company invests in Spanish social media management tool
Ghent-based tech company Team.blue is buying the Spanish Metricool, a widely used social media management tool, De Tijd reports.
Metricool, founded in 2015, helps marketers and digital agencies to manage and analyse social media posts. It has 2 million users and is the largest tool in its segment in Europe.
Team.blue is one of the biggest private tech companies in Europe, with a valuation of 4.8 billion euros. The acquisition price has not been disclosed, but according to Spanish business newspaper Expansión, it could be more than 100 million euros.
“Metricool is experiencing very strong organic growth and is very profitable. That obviously implies a high valuation, but for us it is strategically interesting,” founder and CEO Jonas Dhaenens told De Tijd.
Team.blue, which employs more than 2,500 people, some 180 of them in Belgium, is on track to achieve 750 million euros in revenue this year. This is its second major acquisition in 2024, after it took over Swedish web hosting company Loopia.
