Ghent game studio Larian teases newest game Divinity at Game Awards

Two years after winning the top prize at the Game Awards with Baldur’s Gate 3, Ghent-based Larian Studios returned to the stage to present its next major project: Divinity. The Game Awards, which took place on Thursday evening in Los Angeles, are often described as the Oscars of the gaming world, and are a key moment for studios to announce new titles.
Divinity will succeed Divinity: Original Sin (2014) and Divinity: Original Sin 2 (2017), as well as earlier entries Divine Divinity (2002) and Beyond Divinity (2004). The new game is still in development and has no release date.

“We want to bring together everything we’ve done in the past,” said Larian founder and CEO Swen Vincke. “This will be the beginning of something with greater scope, more depth, and more intimacy than anything we’ve ever made. This is the ‘Divinity’ we’ve always wanted to create.”
Vincke later said that Divinity marks a new step for the studio: “Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled ‘Divinity’. We’re ready to bring everything we’ve done previously into one place… This is the Divinity we’ve always wanted to make, and you're going to have loads of fun with it.”
In a press release, Larian noted that the game “doesn’t require experience with previous Larian titles,” though fans of the Original Sin games “will be able to enjoy greater understanding and continuity.” The studio has not yet confirmed whether it will use an early-access model.
Larian also took home another award: Baldur’s Gate 3 won Best Community Support for the third consecutive year. The blockbuster RPG has already sold 15 million copies worldwide.
While Larian made headlines with its announcement, this year’s award for Best Game went to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from French studio Sandfall. Meanwhile, GTA VI won the “Most Anticipated Game” award for the second year in a row. Fans have faced repeated delays, with the release now pushed back to autumn 2026.
Following the announcement, Vincke wrote on Twitter: “I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous about an announcement as this one but here it is. This is our biggest, most ambitious RPG yet and we can’t wait to show it to you!!!”
Larian says more details about Divinity will follow when development progresses.
