Four Belgian soldiers arrested after brawl in Norway released

The four Belgian soldiers arrested on Saturday night after a violent incident in the Norwegian town of Åndalsnes have been released, reports the Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang.-

The four were arrested on Saturday night after a brawl in a café in Åndalsnes in the Møre og Romsdal region. A local man was taken to hospital. Two others involved also had to be examined.

The four Belgians were the only ones arrested and have since been officially charged with assault and battery, a serious charge in Norway.

The Norwegian authorities, together with the Belgian military police and the Norwegian armed forces, are investigating the incident. According to the newspaper, the Belgian soldiers will remain in Norway until 8 March.
