Flemish series ‘Two Summers’ available worldwide on Netflix as of Friday

The Flemish TV series ‘Twee zomers’ (‘Two Summers’) will be available worldwide on Netflix from Friday onwards. The series, broadcast earlier this year by Flemish public broadcaster VRT, will reach a potential 222 million subscribers in no less than 190 countries. It is the first time a Flemish series on Netflix has been dubbed (11) and subtitled (30) in so many languages.
The series, best described as a psychological thriller, tells the story of a group of close friends whose trust in each other is put to the test when some of them are extorted with something that happened thirty years earlier. The thriller series is set in two time periods: in the present and in the 1990s.
The cast includes many different key figures from the Flemish acting world, including Koen De Bouw, Kevin Janssens, Ruth Becqaert and An Miller. New and upcoming talent also has a place in this production: Tijmen Govaerts, for instance, known from the feature film ‘Girl’ by Golden Palm winner Lukas Dhont, portrays one of the younger characters in the 1990s.
Early this year, ‘Two Summers’ became the most-watched fiction series of the past years on Eén, VRT’s most popular channel.
After their earlier success with ‘Over water’, showrunners Tom Lenaerts and Paul Baeten joined forces again to write the screenplay for ‘Two Summers’. Lenaerts and Brecht Vanhoenacker directed the series and Kato Maes took care of production.
