Flanders technology festival to tour eight Belgian cities

The second edition of the Flanders Technology & Innovation Festival will take place this autumn across eight cities in Flanders.

The month-long event will run from 16 October to 15 November and will feature more than 100 events and over 1,000 technology and innovation projects for the public.

The festival opened on Friday in Mechelen, where the main stage will be based at the Nekkerhal. Events will also be held in Antwerp, Brussels, Genk, Ghent, Hasselt, Kortrijk and Leuven.

Festival director Dries Mahieu said the aim is to highlight technologies that could improve everyday life and support society in the future.

The programme is designed for both children and adults, with activities including an AI academy, immersive hospital experiences and a sleep study event where visitors can learn about the quality of their sleep.

Organisers will also provide school programmes to help teachers continue discussing technology and innovation in the classroom after visits to the festival.
