Five Belgian soldiers under judicial investigation for denialism

The federal prosecutor's office is investigating five young Belgian soldiers for denialism, incitement to hatred and xenophobic, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic statements. Sudinfo reported this on Thursday.

The investigation began in 2021 when State Security discovered that one of the five had attended a shooting course in Poland with a private organisation suspected of having links to the far right. The group communicated via Messenger, Telegram, Whatsapp and the dark web, and some comments were also posted on Facebook.

They are also suspected of harassing one of their black military colleagues. The military has suspended them pending the outcome of the case. The Equal Opportunities Centre, Unia, has joined the case as a civil party.
