Federal government reaches deal on multi-annual budget

The Belgian government has reached a deal on the 2026 budget and a framework for the years after. Details are still unknown, but in recent hours the discussion has focused on higher VAT tariffs and wages. Trade unions start a three-day strike today against the government's budget cuts. The agreement came after many weeks of political crisis.
