Fedasil reception centres open doors for World Refugee Week

Fedasil’s asylum reception centres across Belgium are opening to the public this week to mark World Refugee Week. The initiative, aimed at fostering understanding and exchange, includes a wide range of activities organised in collaboration with residents.
Centres in cities such as Charleroi, Liège, Ghent, Bastogne and Ostend will host events that offer the public a glimpse into the lives and journeys of asylum seekers. Activities are designed to encourage dialogue and personal connection and will highlight the human stories behind the headlines.
Some centres will become "living libraries", where visitors can speak to residents who share their experiences and perspectives in an open and personal way. Fedasil residents and staff have also created six postcards, available at various locations, that allow people to send messages of connection and solidarity by post or via QR code.
In Brussels, portraits of eight residents of local centres will be displayed in public spaces. Each resident chose a meaningful location in the city to be photographed, with QR codes accompanying the images to share their stories.
