Expo on world-famous Belgian harmonica player Toots opens at Royal Library

At the Royal Library of Belgium, the exhibition 'Toots 100 The sound of a Belgian legend' opens on April 22. On the occasion of his 100th birthday and with never-before-seen music and visual material, Toots Thielemans is revived in a rich experiential exhibition.
The exhibition on the world-famous Belgian harmonica player is made up of several thematic sections. His life's journey is explained in detail with illustrating objects. Examples are a fully stamped passport which reflects his many trips to the United States and his nobility book which he received when given the title of baron. His instruments are on display and accompanying digital screens explain what sounds Toots made with them. You can see his guitars, trumpets and, of course, dozens of harmonicas.
But there is more than jazz, since he also showed great interest in Latin American music and did not shy away from doing commercial work, movies and series.
Visitors can take a guided tour with headphones during which they can hear his unique sound and famous 'Bluesettte'. There will also be a quiz to test whether you recognize Toots typical sound. The expo ends with an illustration of Toots worldwide influence, with for example a letter from Barack Obama.
