Europe's biggest blockchain event draws to a close in Brussels
The Ethereum Community Conference Week, taking place from Monday 8 July to Thursday 11 July, sold some 6,000 tickets. The event normally takes place in Paris but descended on the Belgian capital this year in light of the Olympics.
Bringing together thousands of developers, researchers, and enthusiasts every year, the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) Week is Europe’s largest annual Ethereum event. The festival aims to bring together people working with Ethereum, an open-source blockchain system developed by Russo-Canadian Vitalik Buterin, which was launched in 2015.
Ethereum has evolved extensively since its inception but usability and technical improvements remain hurdles. As the ecosystem enters its tenth anniversary, founders, professionals and users gathered to discuss the future of the blockchain system. Buterin himself, as well as some 250 others, came to speak at the event. Among them were also some Belgians, including Xavier Damman, known for Citizen Wallet, an app to store and use local currencies.
People unfamiliar with Ethereum could also enjoy the event. The conference offered some 150 events all over Brussels, from hackatons and sports sessions to workshops and parties.
The final day of the event kicks off on Thursday. More information on EthCC and all side activities can be found on the website.
