European Parliament prepares for 'historic' speech Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the European Parliament on Thursday morning. This was confirmed by President Roberta Metsola, who called on her members to attend en masse.
"I hope you will attend this historic moment for the European Parliament and our shared European project," she said in a message to MEPs, which Belga could access.
It was an open secret that Zelensky would participate in the European summit today and address the European Parliament. That is now entirely certain. The session was announced at 10 am, but Zelensky's speech will start a little later. This is because he has just landed in Brussels.
"It is with great pride that I can inform you that President Volodymyr Zelensky will join us in Brussels this morning to address a special plenary session of the European Parliament," Metsola said.
In her letter, she said she remains proud that the European Parliament was the very first parliamentary hemisphere to address Zelensky after the Russian invasion of his country. "And I know that our assembly will also now be able to offer him a platform to address Europe and the world," Metsola said.
