English former international Scott Parker succeeds Carl Hoefkens as trainer at Club Brugge

42-year-old Englishman Scott Parker is the new trainer of Club Brugge. The club announced this on Saturday. The former international succeeds Carl Hoefkens, who was dismissed on Wednesday.

Brugge will become the third club to take Parker under his wing. He led Fulham (2019-2021) and Bournemouth (2021-2022) from the Championship to the Premier League. As a central midfielder, he defended the colours of his childhood club Charlton Athletic (1997-2004), Norwich (2000), Chelsea (2004-2005), Newcastle (2005-2007), West Ham (2007-2011), Tottenham (2011-2013) and Fulham (2013-2017).

Under Hoefkens, Club Brugge had a season with mixed results. In the Champions League, it qualified for the eighth finals, but in the league, it was only fourth, 12 points behind leaders KRC Genk, and in the cup, it was eliminated 1-4 in the eighth-finals by Sint-Truiden.
