Elise Mertens reaches women's doubles final at Wimbledon

Belgium’s Elise Mertens has reached the final of the women’s doubles at Wimbledon for the fourth time in her career. Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova beat Olivia Gadecki and Desirae Krawczyk 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 after two hours of tennis.
They will face either Hsieh Su-wei and Jelena Ostapenko or Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend, the reigning champions.
The 29-year-old won Wimbledon in 2021 with Hsieh. She was runner-up in 2022 with Zheng Shuai and in 2023 with Storm Hunter. Last year, she and Hsieh were knocked out in the semi-finals.
Mertens, from Limburg, has four doubles grand slam titles to her name, winning the Australian Open twice and the US Open once.
In the Wimbledon singles competition, she was eliminated in the last 16 on Sunday by Aryna Sabalenka, her former doubles partner and the world number one.
