Electricity consumption in Belgium dropped 11%

Electricity consumption in Belgium fell again in November, according to figures released on Tuesday by network manager Elia, which showed that it was 11% less than the average for the last five years.

Even excluding the effects of the mild weather for the season, the decrease was still 8%.

The biggest savings were made by households and SMEs, with a 17% decrease. Large industrial companies, on the other hand, saw a decline of only 6%.

The figures also show that November was a good month for renewable energy production, with over a quarter of consumption coming from solar and wind power.
