Belgium sends 18 athletes and two relay teams to European U23 Championships

Belgium will send a delegation of 18 individual athletes and two relay teams to the European Athletics U23 Championships in Bergen, Norway, later this month.

The team includes Elie Bacari and Zeno Van Neygen in the 110m hurdles and Tristan Gevaert in the 10,000m. Mimoun Abdoul Wahab, who recently competed at the European Team Championships, will run in the 400m hurdles. Belgium will also field teams in the men's 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

Among the women, Noor Koekelkoren will run the 100m hurdles and Merel Maes will compete in the high jump. Three Belgians are entered in the multi-discipline events: Laura Van den Brande and Sennah Vanhoeijen in the heptathlon and Dai Keïta in the decathlon.

At the previous U23 Championships in Espoo, Finland, in 2023, Belgium won two medals: Delphine Nkansa took gold in the 200m and Elien Vekemans won silver in the pole vault.

The championships take place from 17-20 July.
