Eden Hazard is second Belgian to join Premier League Hall of Fame

Eden Hazard will be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, the English professional league announced on Wednesday. He is the second Belgian to join the Hall of Fame, after Vincent Kompany.
The 34-year-old Belgian played in the Premier League for Chelsea from 2012 to 2019, scoring 85 goals and providing 58 assists in 245 matches. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he won two league titles and was named Player of the Season in 2015.
In 2019, Hazard left Chelsea for Real Madrid. After several injury-plagued seasons, he retired from professional football in October 2023.
"It means a lot to join the Premier League Hall of Fame," Hazard said in a press release. "I just wanted to have fun on the pitch and entertain the fans who bought tickets or watched on TV. Being recognised in this way is special for me and my family."
24 players, two Belgians
Hazard is the second Belgian to join the Hall of Fame: defender Vincent Kompany was inducted in 2022 for his achievements with Manchester City between 2008 and 2019. He played for City for 11 seasons, winning four league titles, and is now coach of Bayern Munich.
The Premier League Hall of Fame was established in 2021 to honour the greatest figures in the league’s history since its launch in 1992. With the addition of Hazard, it now includes 26 names: 24 players and two managers.
