Dour Festival kicks off with 230 international and local artists
The 34th edition of the Dour Festival kicks off on Wednesday with an expected audience of 25,000. The music festival takes place from 17 to 21 July, featuring more than 230 international and emerging artists on eight stages.
The festival in Hainaut attracts a diverse audience with an eclectic mix of genres, from electronic and hip-hop to rock and reggae. Of the eight stages, The Last Arena is the largest with a capacity of 20,000. This is where French electro duo Justice will close the festival on Sunday night. The Ballroom features electronic acts with local talent such as Amelie Lens. The Boombox focuses on hip-hop, soul, R&B and swing, while La Petite Maison dans la Prairie will bring indie rock to the meadow.
The 2024 edition features renowned names such as The Blessed Madonna, Arca, Ganja White Night, Ice Spice and Aminé. Emerging talents and local artists also feature prominently, reflecting the festival's commitment to supporting new music alongside established acts.
On Thursday, drum & bass artists will perform in the Balzaal, and on Friday, British band Chase & Status will present their new album on the main stage.

Fans of hip-hop will not be disappointed with Dinos, Belgian duo Caballero & JeanJass and Kaaris in the line-up. For those looking for softer music, Dour has also programmed the electronic bedroom pop of James Blake and Belgian stars Oscar and the Wolf.
The festival offers interactive installations, art exhibits and workshops. It is also stepping up the fight against drugs. Vincent Macq, the public prosecutor in Mons, announced last week that anyone caught with 3g or more of cannabis risks a fine of 75 euros, payable immediately. Last year, the limit was 5g.
