Despite record-breaking sales, 1.2 million tickets are still available for Olympic Games

There are still 1.2 million tickets available to follow the various sporting events during the Paris Olympic Games, which start next week. Tickets for the athletics and swimming finals will be released on Thursday, the organisers announced on Wednesday.
The Paris Olympic Games broke the ticket record a few weeks ago. 8.7 million seats have already been sold. The previous record was 8.3 million for the 1996 Atlanta Games in the United States.
Even with the staggering ticket sales, there are still 1.2 million tickets available, the organising committee's general director, Mickaël Aloïsio, said during a press moment.
"More than 50,000 new tickets will be released on Thursday in more than thirty sports," Aloïsio said, including tickets for athletics and swimming finals. And from Monday, even more seats will become available every day.
Those who specifically want to see Belgian competitors can get tickets for the Belgian Cats, the women's basketball team in Lille, the hockey teams in Colombes, and sports such as track cycling, badminton, boxing, table tennis, and judo.
As for the Paralympic Games, one million tickets have currently been sold out of a total of 2.8 million seats available.
