Deportation of two Iranians suspended

The planned deportation of two Iranians detained in a closed centre in Steenokkerzeel (Brussels area) has been suspended, the men's lawyer announced on Saturday afternoon.

The men risked deportation on Saturday afternoon, said their lawyer, Guillaume Lys. It is not known how long the suspension will last. A hearing on their request for a release is scheduled for Monday, January 30th.

Earlier this week, on Friday, the deportation of a third Iranian man had already been suspended. According to their lawyer, the faces of the three Iranians are now known in Iran, and their lives will be in grave danger if they are forced to return.
