De Lijn unions plan to strike 9 days in protest against extra cuts Flemish government

The trade unions at De Lijn are submitting a strike notice for nine days of action in March and April, spread across Flanders. The reason for this is the additional cuts at the public transport operator announced by the Flemish government at the end of January.

In January, the trade unions were informed that, on top of the 30 million euros that must be saved on De Lijn's services in 2026, a further 5.5 million euros in cuts are on the way. According to the unions, these will be felt most acutely in rural areas.

The unions then announced “a spring of action”. Now they are putting their words into action with a strike notice due to the Flemish government's “breach of contract”.
