De Lijn to provide extra buses for summer festivals in Flanders

After two years of COVID-19 restrictions, this summer is bursting with festivals and events in Flanders. Flemish public transportation company De Lijn has deployed many extra buses and night buses to bring festivalgoers and partygoers safely and smoothly to their destinations. This was announced by the company on Wednesday.
De Lijn will be providing extra transport for a large number of events. "That varies from extra buses to night buses. This way, visitors are sure of a smooth connection without parking stress. For Tomorrowland, De Lijn will deploy 89 extra buses. Travel with the festival shuttle is included in the entrance ticket", said Flemish minister for Mobility Lydia Peeters. Choosing public transport also means less CO2. De Lijn wants to be an important partner in making mobility in Flanders more sustainable, according to Peeters.
Extra bus services will also be provided for other events, such as Pennenzakkenrock, Pukkelpop, Rock Werchter, TW Classic and Paradise City Festival. On Saturday 25 June, between 10 a.m. and 2 a.m., De Lijn will deploy shuttle buses from Leuven Station to take festivalgoers to the TW Classic festival site. A special day ticket (7.50 euros) can be purchased in advance via the app and website, or with a text message. The TW Classic train ticket will also be valid for travelling by shuttle bus.
At Rock Werchter, Paradise City and Pukkelpop, festivalgoers can use handcarts at the De Lijn stand, near the bus stop, to transport their camping gear to the campsite.
