De Bruyne begins rehabilitation after surgery on hamstring injury

Belgium's Kevin De Bruyne has undergone successful surgery on a hamstring injury, according to his club, Napoli, and is starting the first phase of his rehabilitation. He is expected to be sidelined for at least three months.
“As planned, Kevin De Bruyne underwent surgery in Antwerp today for a serious injury to his right thigh,” the Italian club said in a statement on Wednesday. “The operation went perfectly.”
De Bruyne was injured last Saturday during a league match against Inter, which Napoli won 3-1. He suffered the injury while scoring his team’s first goal from the penalty spot and left the pitch supported by two team doctors.
Since his free transfer from Manchester City in the summer, De Bruyne has scored four goals in eight league matches. Defending champions Napoli are top of Serie A with 21 points from nine matches.
