Cycling: Tour of Flanders men: The big four, as expected

Tadej Pogacar won the 110th Tour of Flanders on Sunday, starting in Antwerp and finishing in Oudenaarde after 278.2 kilometers. The 27-year-old Slovenian restored order on the final climb of the Oude Kwaremont by dropping Mathieu van der Poel from his wheel. The Dutchman finished second. Remco Evenepoel secured a podium spot on his debut. Wout van Aert took fourth place, ahead of the Dane Mads Pedersen.
During the second ascent of the Oude Kwaremont, Pogacar shattered the large breakaway group. Only Van der Poel and Evenepoel were able to stay on the world champion's wheel. Van Aert had to let a small gap open up, as did Pedersen.
Pogacar pressed the accelerator all the way down at the foot of the final ascent of the Oude Kwaremont. Van der Poel immediately had to let a small gap open up. Pogacar also stormed up the Paterberg, the final climb of the day, and held a 15-second lead over Van der Poel there. Evenepoel was dropped by 55 seconds, while Van Aert had pulled away from Pedersen in his pursuit of fourth place. These positions remained unchanged in the final 13 kilometers.
Thus, Tadej Pogacar claimed his third victory in the Tour of Flanders, becoming a co-record holder.
