Coronavirus : Number of corona infections increases again
In Belgium, the number of new corona cases is on the rise again. In the week of 19 to 25 April, an average of 6,507 corona infections per day were recorded, which is an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous week. Provisional figures from the health institute Sciensano showed this on Friday, the public institution monitoring the situation.
Other indicators are still going in the right direction. The number of hospital admissions fell by 15 percent in one week. Between 22 and 28 April, an average of 160 people were admitted to hospital every day.
The number of corona patients currently in hospital has fallen by 18 percent, to 2,427. There are still 146 COVID patients in intensive care units, which is 5 percent less than the previous week.
From 19 to 25 April, an average of 18 people died each day from the virus, a decrease of 22 percent compared to the previous week. Since the start of the pandemic, our country already has 31,439 corona deaths.
