CMB.TECH sells two oil tankers for $100.5 million profit

Antwerp-based shipping group CMB.TECH has agreed to sell two Suezmax oil tankers, generating a capital gain of $100.5 million (€88 million).

The two vessels, Brest and Brugge, were built in 2023 and will be delivered to their new owner in the third quarter of 2026. The company said it decided to sell because Suezmax tanker values are currently at historic highs.

The latest deal follows the sale of eight other tankers earlier this year. In total, CMB.TECH has now sold 10 tankers in 2026, generating capital gains of about $460 million, according to newspaper De Tijd.

Chief executive Alexander Saverys said the company would use the proceeds to support its long-term investment strategy and the growth of its diversified shipping business.

CMB.TECH operates a fleet of around 250 vessels, including bulk carriers, oil and chemical tankers, container ships and offshore energy vessels, and is also investing in hydrogen and ammonia fuel technologies.
