Citizens invited to share views on Belgian biodiversity strategy

The Federal Public Service (FPS) Health has launched a public consultation concerning the national biodiversity strategy. All citizens will have the chance to give their opinions and experts will take them into account when drafting the final strategy, which runs until 2030.
Belgium plans to revise its national biodiversity strategy for 2030. The update aims to align Belgium's targets with the Kunming-Montreal global biodiversity framework and the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
The strategy involves 15 strategic and 85 operational objectives, which, according to the FPS Health, "cover a wide range of actions around the main causes of biodiversity loss, restoration of degraded ecosystems and integration of biodiversity throughout society".
Interested citizens can consult the current National Biodiversity Strategy (2013-2020) online and then share their views on the new strategy. This can be done until 24 September via a questionnaire. All the information, in English, can be found on the website of Belgium's official contact for the Convention on Biological Diversity.
