Chip manufacturer X-Fab named Flemish Entrepreneur of the Year
Semiconductor manufacturer X-Fab has been named Flemish entrepreneur of the year 2024. Since its foundation in 1992, the company has grown to become the leading semiconductor manufacturer in Europe.
With six factories in Europe, a decision centre in Belgium and more than 4,500 employees, X-Fab had a turnover of 900 million euros last year.
The award has been organised by consultancy firm EY since 1995. EY also organises the competition worldwide. Each June, the winners from the participating countries meet in Monaco, where the world entrepreneur of the year is chosen.
The three founders of X-Fab have previously appeared on the Flemish entrepreneur of the year stage in 2000
The three founders of X-Fab, including current CEO Rudi De Winter, have previously appeared on the Flemish entrepreneur of the year stage in 2000. That year's winner was Melexis, a semiconductor developer founded around the same time.
X-Fab replaces construction company Willy Naessens as Flanders' leading company. The company beat three other finalists: Montea, Golazo and Drylock Technologies. The scale-up of the year was Equine Care Group, which specialises in veterinary medicine for horses.
