Charity Campaign Ukraine 12-12 collects more than 17.7 million euros

Ukraine 12-12, the large-scale fundraising campaign organised by major Flemish radio and television stations, raised 17,778,315 euros for the war victims in Ukraine.
Radio stations Joe, MNM, Nostalgie, QMusic, Studio Brussel and Radio 2 joined forces for a joint live broadcast from the Groenplaats in Antwerp, where throughout the day various presentation duos encouraged listeners to donate to Ukraine 12-12, a cause that unites several aid organisations.
The highlight of the charity action was the TV show, that was broadcast simultaneously on the major public channel Eén and on the commercial channels Play4 and VTM. During the broadcast, the presenters announced that 17,778,315 euros had been collected in the course of the day. That amount could still rise in the coming days. The money will be used to provide emergency aid in Ukraine, but also to accommodate refugees in neighbouring countries.
Philippe Henon, spokesman for Ukraine 12-12, said he was satisfied
with the amount raised. “We started the action barely a fortnight ago
and had no idea how it would evolve. The solidarity is huge, that’s what
counts", he said during the radio show.
The amount raised will be divided among the seven aid organisations that are united in Consortium 12-12: Caritas International Belgium, the Belgian Red Cross, Handicap International, Dokters van de Wereld, Oxfam Belgium, Plan International and UNICEF Belgium.
The amount every organisation receives, is calculated annually on the basis of the number of donations each organisation receives and the costs they incur in fundraising. The current distribution is as follows:
- Belgian Red Cross: 30%
- UNICEF Belgium: 22.78%
- Plan International Belgium: 14.52%
- Oxfam Belgium: 12.66%
- Caritas International: 8.18%
- Dokters van de Wereld: 6.16%
- Handicap International: 5.70%
