    "body": "<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>The CEO of the Federation of Belgian Enterprises, Pieter Timmermans, has announced that he will step down by the start of next year, according to a statement from the federation.</strong></p><p style=\"text-align: left\">The FEB says this plan &ldquo;has been in place for several years&rdquo;, in order to take account of a number of key dates in domestic politics, such as the elections in 2024, the formation of new federal and regional governments in 2025 and this year&rsquo;s round of consultations with the trade unions within the Group of Ten, the main forum for consultation between trade unions and employers. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\">&ldquo;This has been a closely guarded secret, but one that has also been carefully prepared,&rdquo; Timmermans said. &ldquo;All the pieces of the jigsaw are in place so that I can, with conviction and complete peace of mind, pass the baton to my successor at the start of next year. I will then remain active behind the scenes to provide support and advice to the FEB&rsquo;s management.&rdquo;</p><p style=\"text-align: left\">The organisation must now seek a successor to Timmermans, who has been at the helm of the FEB since 1998.
