Brussels government approves STIB-MIVB rate indexation starting September
The Brussels government has approved the STIB-MIVB fare schedule, which will come into force on 1 September. This is the technical implementation of the government's decision to index STIB-MIVB fares when drawing up the 2024 budget, which was included in the 2024-2028 management agreement. The preferential fares, i.e. those for people entitled to an increased allowance and the 12-euro tickets for young people and senior citizens, will not be indexed.
From 1 September, a single ticket will cost 2.20 euros, 10 cents more than today. A day ticket will cost half a euro less at 8 euros. An Airport2City trip will cost 7.50 euros, also a half euro surcharge. A ten-journey ticket to the airport will cost 3.20 euros more at 49.20 euros.
The taxi-bus fare will rise from 10 cents to 1.80 euros, while a day ticket for school groups (up to 18 years old) will increase from one euro to 16 euros. From 1 September, a monthly pass will cost 52 euros instead of 49 euros, and an annual pass will cost 520 euros instead of 499 euros.
