Belgium’s most powerful data centre to be built in Brussels

The Brussels urban development agency citydev and Kevlinx Data Centres are joining forces to build the most powerful data centre in the country.
The site will be Belgium’s first high-density colocation data campus, a site with significantly more computing power than traditional data centres, intended to drive local employment, knowledge development and stronger European digital integration.
The centre will be built on more than 2.5 hectares in the northern Brussels district of Neder-Over-Heembeek. Its construction and operation will create around 150 jobs.
“Brussels is a knowledge-driven city,” said Philippe Close, mayor of Brussels. “This new collaborative effort between the public and private sectors will help us turn AI into an opportunity for our economy and our talent, anchored in a sustainable digital ecosystem that creates jobs.”
Innovative companies
The campus is designed to carry out AI applications, data analysis and research without relying on infrastructure from abroad.
“Our collaboration with Kevlinx demonstrates that Brussels attracts and nurtures innovative companies,” said Benjamin Cadranel, CEO of citydev.brussels.

“By anchoring talent, knowledge and technology here, we are strengthening our position as Belgium’s economic centre and digital capital.”
The project should boost Kevlinx’s experience, enabling the Dutch company to build more data centres of this type in Europe.
In traditional data centres, power density varies between 6 and 12kW per rack, but Kevlinx is developing infrastructure that can handle 60kW per rack, and up to 150kW with liquid cooling.
