Belgium welcomes first Ukrainian patient

On Thursday, Belgium welcomed its first Ukrainian patient. That is what the Belgian Federal Public Service for Health and the CHU hospital in Liège announced. Because of the war in the Ukraine, some patients are being treated abroad. Belgium has also signed up as a host country. On Thursday, the first patient was transferred from Slovakia.

The patient will be able to go through the entire treatment process at the University Hospital in Liège. More Ukrainian patients will be transferred to Belgium in the coming period. The European Commission contributes three quarters of the transport costs and is also responsible for coordinating the medical evacuations.
