Belgium secures two silver medals on final day of World Athletics Indoor Champions

Eliott Crestan claimed silver in the 800 metres at the World Athletics Indoor Championships on Sunday evening. Not long after, Belgium added another silver medal in the men's 4x400 metres relay.
Crestan finished second in the final in Toruń, behind American teenager Cooper Lutkenhaus. For the 27-year-old from Namur, it marks a third consecutive World Championship medal in the event, following bronze in 2024 and silver in 2025.
"It’s a World Championships and winning a medal is always nice," Crestan said afterwards. "I have to admit that this time I am perhaps a little less satisfied with that silver than last year. But I am sure I will look back on this with great satisfaction in three weeks’ time."

Later on Sunday, the Belgian Tornados also claimed silver in the men’s 4x400 metres. Jonathan Sacoor, Christian Iguacel, Julien Watrin and Alexander Doom clocked 3:03.29, finishing behind the United States, who set a championship record of 3:01.52.
Sunday's result marks the team's fifth medal at the World Indoor Championships, following gold in 2022 and 2024, silver in 2010 and bronze in 2018.
Belgium leaves Toruń with three medals in total. Earlier in the championships, Sacoor and Watrin, alongside Ilana Hanssens and Helena Ponette, won gold in the mixed 4x400 metres on Friday.
