Belgium receives 614 million euros in third EU recovery payment

Belgium has received 614 million euros from the European Commission as part of the EU’s post-COVID recovery plan. The payment includes 594 million euros in grants and 20 million euros in loans.

This is Belgium’s third instalment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), bringing the total received to more than 3 billion euros or about 58 per cent of its full allocation of 5 billion euros in grants and 244 million euros in loans.

The latest payment rewards progress on various reforms and investment targets. These cover faster permits for renewable energy projects, railway upgrades, housing renovation, and more childcare places. They also include steps on digitalisation, education, skills, and climate adaptation.

The EU’s 650 billion euros RRF supports Member States with reforms and investments to boost resilience and growth after the pandemic.
